Volvo Car Corporation in 2005 was spent gathering forces. The big news was the Volvo C70 convertible with its three-piece hardtop. Sales totaled 443,947 cars after a strong first half-year. They implemented a range of measures designed to reduce costs and improve the efficiency. It's a process that will continue in 2006, allowing to focus even more strongly on core values and to meet the future from a position of strength.

The long-term sales goal of 600,000 cars a year stands firm. They are convinced that we are going to succeed. They do have a highly respected and powerful brand. Their broad car range with its attractive models is continuously supplemented with intelligent and effective variants. The proportion of economical and clean models is increasing steadily. Their new diesel engines are of absolute top class. Sales of FlexiFuel and Bi-Fuel cars are increasing. As future demands, they stand ready to meet them.

The sporty little Volvo C30 will be released in 2006, as will a new generation of the Volvo S80 and a whole range of other interesting new products.

That is why they are looking back on the past with respect and looking ahead with confidence and optimism with their vehicles.

The name Volvo is Latin and it means, "I roll." Before it adorned the first Volvo car in 1927, it was used as a brand name for ball bearings. The symbol for Volvo's cars was the sign for iron -- a circle with a diagonal arrow. The idea was to associate with Swedish steel, renowned for its durability. Since then, the iron symbol has been synonymous with Volvo throughout the world.

For Volvo today, the modernised logotype also represents the company's undertakings in the fields of safety, quality and design.

As of 2006, the iron symbol is the shared symbol of both Volvo cars and AB Volvo.

Volvo Cars has produced 14,049,744 cars. Production is largely customer order-driven, imposing major demands on flexibility; among other things; several models are built on the same production line.

To avoid holding large inventories, systems and components are delivered by suppliers on the just-in-time principle. The entire process of component manufacture, panel pressing, bodybuilding, surface treatment and final assembly is carried out using a combination of high-tech production technologies and highly-trained assembly operatives.

Their vision is to be the world's most desired and successful premium car brand. To create the safest and the most exciting car experience for all modern families.
