Lexus
Since its inception, the Lexus car company has been associated with luxury. Known for its quality in engineering and sleek designs, Lexus is a status symbol of the affluent and those with above average tastes in cars, however because of its solid design and reputation for excellence, the Lexus, manufactured in Japan, is not as high of a risk as some other cars in its class, such as the German engineered BMW and is therefore relatively cost-effective to purchase and insure.
The Lexus motto, "The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection" says it all. The reliability and quality of the company's customer service again drew the attention of J.D. Power and Associates in 2006, who named Lexus the most reliable brand in the United States for the twelfth year in a row. A similar title was also awarded by Consumer Reports, based on the assessment of one million vehicles who were rated in their Annual Car Reliability Survey. Eventually, the Lexus grew to outsell all other luxury cars in the US, foreign and domestic alike. According to the Lexus company, all of their decisions are based on the Lexus Covenant which states, "Lexus will enter the most competitive, prestigious automobile race in the world. Over 50 years of Toyota automotive experience has culminated in the creation of Lexus cars. They will be the finest cars ever built. Lexus will win the race because Lexus will do it right from the start. Lexus will have the finest
dealer network in the industry. Lexus will treat each customer as we would a guest in our home. If you think you can't, you won't...If you think you can, you will! We can, we will."
The Lexus LS series is the most popular to date, although there are other lines within the brand, including an SUV line. The original design - the LS 400 - has been modified several times since its release in 1989 to include additional room, many luxury features and other options as well as two wheel versions ? standard and long wheel base. In addition to this, Lexus has outdone other luxury vehicles by being the first company to offer several never-before-seen options such as four-zone climate control, and eight speed automatic transmission and an automatic parallel parking feature. While the LS series is market towards higher-income customers, the ES series, a comfort luxury design and the IS series, a sports luxury design, sedans are being touted as the "affordable luxury" cars for customers who are just entering the world of luxury cars. Despite its attempt to spread the word among the general population about the economy and affordability of their cars, Lexus has managed to maintain the high opinions of clientele of every income base.
Similar to other car manufacturers, Lexus has created a hybrid series that will combine both a gas and electric motor, having recently released the first luxury SUV in the world, the RX 400h and the GS 450h, a sedan. More models that use the hybrid technologies are expected to be released including a model for the flagship LS series - the LS 600h and the LS 600h L.
