Ford GT
In the mid 1960s, the first American sports car was born. The Ford GT placed 1-2-3 at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1966 and won for the next three years. Today, the ford GT lives up to its predecessor's glory. The updated version is a 2 door, 2 passenger, luxury sports car. This blast from the past has come into the 21st century with a bang.
The new version of the Ford GT may have the same name, but the looks are pure 21st century. It is 18 inches longer and 4 inches taller. The Ford GT boasts modern proportions and surface development. It has a MOD 5.4 liter supercharged V-8 engine, and she is a beauty to look at. It is, however, on the high end of the price range.
That being said, the MSRP, which is $139,995, will buy you everything and more that you will ever need in a car, including air conditioning, AM/FM/CD/MP3 two speaker stereo, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, power windows, seat and mirrors, leather trip, keyless remote and textured rubber floor mats. This car is luxury at its best, and provides a safe and comfortable ride.
The Ford GT has standard safety equipment that will leave the drive feeling assured that they and their passengers are protected in whatever driving conditions they may find themselves in. Some of the safety equipment includes; frontal airbags, antilock brakes, a child seat, tither bracket and latch assembly on the passenger seat, and tire inflation kit in lieu of a spare tire. So not only are you buying extreme comfort with the price, you are also getting safety that will be a comfort to any car owner.
With all of that comfort and safety who could possibly complain? Well, a few people apparently can. Due to the high cost of the car, you will be paying more in insurance, so if the car itself is a stretch for your budget, you may want to think twice about purchasing this car for your family. There have also been complaints about space. One review said, "There is really no trunk or glove compartment room to speak of." And one common complaint from several owners had to do with the paint chipping off easily. That's not good in a car this pricey. There were also several remarks about the gas mileage. With today's skyrocketing gas prices, you may do well to look for convenience over flash.
The Ford GT has something other cars on the market don't, nostalgia value. Being the first American sports car is pretty heady stuff to a lot of car enthusiasts, so for them that may be enough incentive to buy the Ford GT. For others, who are looking for a more cost effective car, this may not be the one for you. While it does get high marks in a lot of areas, it is hard to get past the sticker shock. For a car priced so high, there shouldn't be any complaints about paint chipping off.
