Ferrari
The Ferrari is an Italian-made sports car that first became famous as a racing car. The company, originally known as Scuderia Ferrari, began to sponsor racing drivers and events in 1929, and is still known today for its continued participation in Formula One events and other racing-related venues. Eventually, in 1946, the Ferrari company began the production of street-worthy vehicles, although they are most known for their superior racing capabilities, winning in numerous international events since their company began. However, even their road cars have gained respect as some of the best in engineering design in the world.
While a Ferrari is not typically associated with family vehicles or with the practicality of an everyday car, they have gained and retained prestige among high-end luxury sports cars. The company's presence in the United States is not as big as in other parts of the world; however nearly thirty percent of Ferrari's sales come from within the US. Ferrari does have several road cars that are available and used for non-racing or everyday used, such as the GT series. According to the Ferrari company, they are "the only company in the world to consistently apply Formula 1 technology to its production cars, Ferrari prides itself on building some of the finest high-performance road cars available today. Ferrari's modern GTs continues the company's tradition for building uncompromising driver-oriented cars characterized by sheer, unbridled power, advanced aerodynamics and the unmistakable elegance of Pininfarina-designed lines."
This is a big attraction for customers who are looking for a car with racing-level engineering power behind it. The technological leadership that Ferrari is known for comes from their never-ending quest for knowledge of aerodynamics, often testing their products in wind tunnels to insure its safety and consistency of performance even in the most challenging of situations. The V-8 and V-12 engine cars are the most produced in the series of cars manufactured by the company.
Since 1950, A Ferrari car has races in every single Formula 1 World Championship race and is the only car to have ever done so. In addition, they hold numerous world titles in a variety of categories. Part of the reason that the Ferrari road cars have seen the success they have is because of the dedication the company has shown to giving the same dedication to their road worthy cars as to their racing vehicles. The company has even established a specialized committee that continues to make the transition between the racing technologies and the road cars that much seamless.
If you are thinking about buying a Ferrari, consider the reasons for doing so. As a race car and road car, they are top of the line and a world leader in engine technology; however they may be impractical and too expensive for everyday use. Also, it may not be worth it to purchase a car that is so expensive and will be subjected to everyday wear and tear of a commute of other high traffic driving. A Ferrari should be driven for the luxury and enjoyment it is designed to bring.
