DaimlerChrysler

DaimlerChrysler is a relatively new company, formed in 1998 after a merger between the American-based Chrysler Corporation and Germany's Daimler-Benz. Now, companies that operate under the company's new title include Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Mercedes-Benz, among others. One major factor the new company has going for is their strong brand names of both previous companies. Well-respected and highly competitive in many markets, the new DaimlerChrysler will most likely prove to be that much fiercer with not only its current lines, but also with any new lines that emerge from the two international corporations.

The range of vehicles manufactured by DaimlerChrysler range all the way from the largest, heavy duty trucks to very simple smaller cars, each of which range in value from lower end to very high end, with the quality and consistency and reliability customers have come to trust in both the Chrysler Corporation and in Daimler-Benz.

One of the most popular Chrysler vehicles is the Dodge Ram. The Ram has long been popular for the strength of its engine and ability to hold, tow or carry large-capacity loads. With a choice of three different types of engines, customers can choose based on the types of needs they have. These trucks are not meant for luxury and are considered to be the workhorses of the entire line of cars and truck produced by the company as a whole. However, their focus on making the Ram one of the toughest and strongest trucks on the market, with few frills, have earned the respect of industries that have need of such equipment.

Jeep is another one of the working class of vehicles manufactured by DaimlerChrysler, however, until the Dodge Ram; Jeeps do have a higher end option, with a somewhat luxurious component, until their former models, which were more for utility and off road rather than simple road travel. The Jeep Wrangler has more of the utility feel to it than the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee, which not only have an overland capability, but also feature relative comfort on the paved roads. Some of the features now associated with the Jeep Grand Cherokee include luxuries such as climate control, GPS navigation equipment and DVD entertainment systems. The Grand Cherokee has become more of a high end SUV and its price will reflect that. This is unlike the Cherokees of old, which is something of a disappointment to many customers who have been loyal to the brand for its working class appeal.

The Mercedes Benz is probably one of the world's most famous luxury vehicles and is one of the lines produced under the new DaimlerChrysler. Mercedes Benz features a high-performance engine, luxury interiors and a sleek design that sets the driver apart from other on the road. The German-engineered Mercedes Benz is hard to beat in many categories and is the standard that many other luxury manufacturers aspire to. However, expect to pay a hefty price for the luxury of owning a Mercedes and know that many in the line are among some of the more expensive cars to insure.
